You must read this before you buy a used car! Misconception: All dealers get used cars from the same place I read a post recently on facebook that prompted me to write this. The poster said all dealers get their cars from the same place, or the same auctions. This poster specifically mentioned a smaller auction place that only very small dealers would go to. Big dealers typically don't buy cars at smaller auctions at all, and they almost never buy older cars, or ones with higher miles at auction. Many of these smaller auctions are full of the cars nobody wants! Older cars at auctions, in general, are cars that dealers can't sell, ones that did not pass their inspection, or have too many problems to recondition. Why? Because a big dealer would love to keep and sell every car they can.
